VW Polo set to Grace U.S. Shores?

Many experts in the automotive industry (like WCF) see the demand for smaller cars increasing over the next few years with fuel costs continuing to rise leading the world's biggest automotive market to show its strongest growth in this segment last year (compared to other segments). With this in mind Volkswagen are considering to bring the Polo to the United States, making it the smallest model they have ever made available on these shores.

Later this week Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn will meet with VW's 600 dealers and ask “Do you need the VW Polo?”, and this could lead to the production version of the VW Concept Space Up making it over as well.

With the success of recent small European models such as the BMW 1 Series or even the Smart forTwo, it is clear the auto makers see a clear potential. What do you think? Let us know by commenting below.
