Hummer H2 "Bomber"

Armed for any conditions: Hummer with Mattracks rubber tracks

In its regular trim, the Hummer H2 not only looks fantastic, but also brings with it a real degree of off-road capabilities. But this can go much further, as GeigerCars.de have proved with the "H2 Bomber" on rubber tracks.

In contrast to the regular wheels with their 8.5" x 20" rims encompassing 305/60 tyres, the specialists from Munich have equipped their project SUV with a Mattracks 88M1-A1 rubber tracks at each wheel. Those massive structures, 40cm wide and 150cm long, guarantee unrivalled traction on virtually any type of terrain, whether the vehicle is needed for agriculture, emergency services or expedition. Even extreme gradients are handled without a sweat, not least thanks to the powerful 8 cylinders under the bonnet which gives you 398 bhp and 574 Nm of torque.

How well the GeigerCars.de Hummer acquits itself on the rubber tracks can be left to Autobild editor Wolfgang Blaube to experience: He explored to legendary Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in the depths of winter with the circuit covered in snow and was completely captured by the "new dimension of fun" after just a few kilometres.

Also in the interior of the GeigerCars.de "Bomber", finished in a matte silver, with extra headlights on the roof and the lettering printed in an army style, the fun factor is not missed out: The luxury design fulfils every wish and a sunroof is every bit a part of the Hummer project as the navigation system with a DVD drive from Kenwood, the roof monitor with headphones or the rear-view camera including a monitor in the rear-view mirror. If requested, the Geigercars team can of course equip each Hummer model with an economical LPG autogas system and other extras.

If you're on the lookout for an off-road master, the H2 is definitely the right choice. With a Hummer equipped with rubber tracks, no terrain remains inaccessible.

Hummer H2 by CFC

 Hummer H2 by CFC wallpaper

Hummer’s days as America’s monster machine may be numbered, but it doesn’t mean that people will stop tinkering with it. After all, it is one of those rare vehicles that seems to have grown quite a cult following in the US.

Burning Chrome - Hummer H2 by CFC®CarFilmComponents

Take your Hammer and drive it sexy: CFC® company with its head office in Weilheim has trimmed its Hummer with a striking "chrome" lamination. Tarted up with every imaginable outfit, the sport-style H2 steadily takes the lead. Some vehicles are completely laminated afterwards, the others, on the contrary, already have it right inside. The Hummer by CFC® has it both: it's a Hummer to stare at and to speak about.

The trend of decorating a car with film to create a noticeable work of art had already been attempted by the CFC® years ago. In the meantime, this exceptional art of car lamination was outstandingly applied... and this is really great!

The motor hood was covered with CFC® ExteriorStyle Premium "black carbon", and side windows, along with the rear window, were furnished with CutLine ThermoTec® of the "classic-style" colour.

The installed 28-incher TunerShop light-alloy tyre rims, for example, produce the same attractive and fear-arousing effect as the outside appearance. They carry mammoth-sized 325/35 R28 pneumatic tyres by Kumho.
The Wimmer technology of performance improvement by means of software optimization by 480 hp, LSD wing doors, as well as FOX sports exhaust system make every Hummer a dangerous monster of the streets.

The Hummer driver can enjoy the saucy performance to the full in a totally stuffed cabin: Car Entertainment devices create a sort of incantation here. Among other things, there are 17 Axion displays (on the ceiling, sunscreen, central console between the front seats, trunk and doors), a DVD-player, XETEC amplifiers, XETEC subwoofers and digital television to feast your eyes on. For the "musical therapy" a 1.360-Watt RMS music system is available.

Front and backward movement cameras simplify the parking process. Everyone who appreciates convenience can comfortably sit on the leather couch right next to the mini-bar. No other thing compares to the mix of leather and Alcantara which was used as coating material for the most of surface of seats and saloon siding and was covered by the auto tuners Zwickenpflüg.

Hummer getting plans in order for H4 and H5 models

The last piece of the Hummer reclamation project is adding those new models. When Tengzhong gets the keys to the Hummer kingdom, it will also receive engineering plans for the H4, a new smaller model that is reportedly based on the HX Concept from the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. Taylor reportedly told AN that Hummer's Jeep Wrangler fighter could arrive within three years. Also possible is an even smaller Hummer H5, which would help the SUV automaker to meet future CAFE requirements. Taylor even goes as far as to say that the smaller H4 and H5 could one day replace the brand's heavier and thirstier H2 and H3 mainstays. The next big challenge for Hummer once the sale becomes final is to find a manufacturing partner to build these vehicles. GM will reportedly cease building Hummer models as early as the end of 2010.

First on the "Honey Do" list is to arrest the free-fall of Hummer sales. Right now, sales are down 64% on the year to about 8,500 units, but Hummer is looking for 25,000 sales in 2010. That will be a tough nut to crack, but Automotive News reports that the company optimistically plans to get things done in part with some aggressive marketing. Ultimately, however, new product will be needed to get dealerships buzzing with customers again. In the meantime, Hummer's 154 U.S. dealers need more inventory in the showrooms to help move metal. AN says that dealers only have 1,300 units in stock, compared to the 7,400 vehicles at the same time in 2008.

As a brand, Hummer has been in limbo since General Motors announced it was selling the downtrodden marque to China's Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. Ltd. Speculation remains that the sale could be completed on or around December 1, pending approval from GM and the Chinese government. For now, everything is on hold, though Tengzhong and new Hummer CEO Jim Taylor are apparently still working hard to plan Hummer's future.

SEMA Show: Hummer Goes Off-Road

With a renewed focus on recreation and off-road racing performance, HUMMER comes to Las Vegas and the 2009 SEMA Show with a group of four special trucks and SUVs demonstrating the purpose-built nature of HUMMER vehicles.HUMMER
HUMMER introduces two concepts, the H3 Moab, outfitted with a host of off-road performance accessories inspired by its namesake, and the H3T Sportsman - a proposal for the ultimate outdoorsman's truck. In addition, Rod Hall Racing's two-time Baja 1000 full stock-class winning H3 Alpha and Robby Gordon Off-Road's Dakar-proven HUMMER round-out HUMMER's 2009 SEMA Show display.
"HUMMER is refocusing on what made the brand successful, which is building rugged, all-terrain vehicles with capabilities that meet the needs of our customers," said James Taylor, HUMMER CEO. "These concepts not only highlight the off-road performance technology built into our models from the factory, they are inspiration for enthusiasts who want to express themselves via their H3 or H3T."
While none of these specialized HUMMERs are currently targeted for production, they incorporate Genuine HUMMER Accessories and other aftermarket parts available today, allowing owners and enthusiasts to replicate much the concept vehicles' enhanced capability and performance.

H3 Moab
HUMMER is the ultimate vehicle for the independent spirit, and the H3 Moab is no exception. Inspired by trails like Steel Bender, Moab Rim, and Poison Spyder, the H3 Moab pays homage to one of the world's greatest landscapes and off-road enthusiasts' playground.
Beginning with the solid off-road foundation of a 300-horsepower, V8-powered H3 Alpha with factory-installed front- and rear- locking differentials, the H3 Moab features a combination of production equipment, available aftermarket components and specialized modifications.
At the heart of the H3 Moab's design is the combination of a Rancho four-inch front suspension lift and a custom rear spring-over conversion inspired by current HUMMER engineering test vehicles. The suspension modifications are supported by Rancho shocks and sure-footed performance is provided by its 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 tires mounted on custom 17-inch 2-piece Monster Black Competition Beadlock Raceline Wheels by Allied.
The H3's standard underbody protection has been augmented with additional custom shielding and a HUMMER Genuine Accessory brushguard and rocker protection provide the Canyon Metallic exterior paint with defense against the elements. Mounted atop the H3 is a Gobi Ranger roof basket to increase cargo carrying capacity for long overland journeys. The H3 Moab also features HUMMER Genuine Accessory lower grille mounted lamps and six Delta Xenon roof basket-mounted off-road lamps to provide lighting in all conditions.
Rounding out the exterior enhancements are a Predator Motorsports H3 winch mount system with a Warn XD9000 winch and Viking Off-Road synthetic winchline to deliver an integrated recovery solution for any situation encountered on the trail.
Functional additions to the H3 Moab continue into the vehicle's interior with the addition of custom all-weather flooring, HUMMER Genuine Accessory all-weather floor mats and cargo area mat. To aid in trail visibility, front- and rear-facing cameras have been integrated into the vehicle bumpers and display the terrain fore and aft on the navigation radio screen. Integrated into the rear cargo area of the vehicle is a Warn Air-Power SPI, ideal for airing-up tires for the trip home after a long weekend on the trail.

HUMMER H3T Sportsman Concept - SEMA 2009

Restoration for Recreation
HUMMER engineers have used the natural proving grounds surrounding Moab, UT since the introduction of HUMMER vehicles. As such, the brand and its owners have been an ongoing partner of Tread Lightly to promote responsible recreation to ensure open access for future generations. To continue this relationship and in conjunction with the introduction of the H3 Moab, HUMMER will make a donation to Tread Lightly for every photo of HUMMER vehicles in Moab posted to its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/hummer. These funds will be directed towards projects in Moab under the Tread Lightly Restoration for Recreation grant program.

H3T Sportsman
The H3T Sportsman concept demonstrates the ideal midsize truck for the outdoor enthusiast whose weekends are spent in the field or stream. HUMMER designers enhanced the H3T Alpha's inherent functionality with a combination of powertrain modifications, suspension enhancements and a balanced selection of Genuine HUMMER Accessories and aftermarket components.
Starting with a new H3T Alpha, engineers added nearly 70 horsepower to its 5.3L V-8 via components available in the aftermarket. They include LS2 cylinder heads, a higher-lift camshaft and supporting components. Also enhancing performance is a custom, 3.5-inch exhaust system.
Taking a note from playbook of the HUMMER stock-class race program, the H3T rides on 35-inch-tall BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tires mounted on HUMMER Accessory 20-inch wheels. The concept also uses racing-proven stock and aftermarket suspension components, including Light Racing JounceShocks and 2-inch-diameter Rod Hall Racing piggyback reservoir-type performance shocks. The modified suspension improves the H3T's inherent off-road capability for traversing all forms of terrain.
To enhance the storage flexibility of the H3T's 5-foot bed and standard bed-rail system, the Sportsman includes right- and left- side lockable storage boxes from HUMMER Genuine Accessories, perfect for securing valuable hunting and fishing gear.
Additionally, the Wildrye Matte custom paint is highlighted by functional HUMMER accessories, including grille-mounted and custom low-profile front- and rear-facing roof-rail mounted Delta off-road lamps, a body-color upper grille and a matte finish fuel door.
A Predator Motorsports H3 winch mount system with a Warn XD9000 winch and Viking Off-Road synthetic winchline and Expert Recovery Kit provide the necessary recovery tools for any situation. On the interior, added HUMMER Genuine Accessories all-weather floor mats and seat covers protect the crew cab's interior from elements.

Robby Gordon Off-Road Dakar HUMMER
HUMMER and Robby Gordon Off-road have joined together again to take on the 2010 Dakar Rally, widely considered to be the most grueling off-road race in the world due to its brutal terrain and extreme environmental conditions. Gordon will lead Team HUMMER from behind the wheel of his HUMMER H3 race truck.
Gordon was the first American to win a stage at Dakar, and he has been passionate about the program ever since. Since forming the relationship and building his Dakar HUMMER for the 2006 Rally, Gordon and Team HUMMER have proven a formidable Dakar challenger. In 2007, he finished first in the OP class and 8th overall. In 2008, Gordon's elite off-road team entered two Robby Gordon Off-Road HUMMERS in the Central Europe Rally. Gordon won two stages and finished tenth overall while the second HUMMER piloted by BJ Baldwin went on to finish seventh overall. Gordon finished the 2009 Dakar Rally in third place overall, an impressive feat in the highly competitive rally race.
Gordon's H3 consists of a custom HUMMER body paired with a specially developed chassis featuring a suspension designed by him and his Off-Road team. The H3 is a tube-chassis vehicle similar to Trophy Trucks raced in the famed Baja 1000, except that it has a fully enclosed air-conditioned cockpit, including windshield and side windows. It is powered by a production-based General Motors V8 engine.

Rod Hall Racing H3 Alpha
The Rod Hall Racing HUMMER H3 Alpha represents the ultimate HUMMER stock-class desert racing machine. Piloted by Chad Hall, the H3 Alpha prepares to enter the 2009 SCORE International Baja 1000 in the hyper-competitive full-size stock class. The H3 Alpha was the first stock class vehicle to finish in the 2007 and 2008 Baja 1000 and 2008 Baja 500.
In addition to entering the H3 Alpha in the 2009 Baja 1000, team founder and namesake, Rod Hall will enter his mid-size stock H3. Rod will partner with his eldest son and 2007 Baja 1000 mini-stock class winner Josh Hall.
Rod Hall Racing Team HUMMER competes in the stock class, which features production-based vehicles with stock frames, stock suspension designs and production-based engines. The Team HUMMER H3 Alpha and H3 were built by HUMMER engineers at the Desert Proving Grounds in Arizona. Engineering participation in racing has resulted in various improvements to production components, including suspension bushings, exhaust systems, and wiring harness routing and configuration
Team HUMMER won every stock class season championship in the Best in the Desert and SCORE International racing series in 2008.

China says Hummer paperwork not submitted yet

Last week, it was reported that General Motors had signed a definitive agreement
to sell Hummer to Chinese machinery manufacturer Tengzhong. The Chinese company
and its partner in the deal, Lumena Resources Corp., would pay $150 million and
receive Hummer and its intellectual property, ownership of U.S. franchise
agreements, and manufacturing, business, and component assistance during a four-
or five-year transition period.

The questions being raised now concern what is happening on the other side of
the Pacific. The Chinese Commerce Ministry reportedly hasn't received
Tengzhong's application to officially bring Hummer home, which has led observers
to wonder if there will be a holdup or reversal of the deal. According to a
Hummer representative, however...

Tengzhong had to finalize the deal with GM before it could present it for
approval to the Chinese authorities:

The closing of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and
regulatory approvals and/or review by agencies in China and the U.S. Tengzhong
has started communicating with the relevant regulatory bodies and will continue
to support the application process in accordance with the requirements. Formal
engagement was only able to begin with the signing of the definitive agreement.

If all goes well, Tengzhong hopes to
have the
deal closed by early 2010

REPORT: GM to announce tentative sale of Hummer tomorrow

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, General Motors plans to announce a tentative sale of the Hummer brand less than a day after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Although GM won't release the name of Hummer's (possible) future owner(s) on Tuesday, the WSJ's sources say that a deal could be struck by the end of the third quarter and the H2 and H3 will continue to be produced at GM's plants in Indiana and Louisiana.

It's been widely accepted that if GM couldn't offload Hummer this month, it would be killed during the bankruptcy proceedings, and the General has been entertaining bids from a interest parties, including a Chinese firm, for somewhere in the sub-$500 million range since late last year. When the announcement is made tomorrow, expect GM to be hyping the sale as part of its turnaround efforts and that the SUV purveyor's new parent will continue to work on expanding the Hummer line, including the production of future alternative-fuel models.

Raser Technologies working on 100mpg Hummer H2 plug-in hybrid

Raser Technologies is working in conjunction with powertrain company FEV and its new E-REV is being designed for application in any number of large vehicles, including SUVs and light trucks.

A prototype for the 100mpg SUV is being prepared for its debut at the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress in Detroit later this month, and while the exact specs about the electric drivetrain are still being kept secret we do know that it will run in a similar fashion to the Chevrolet Volt's plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

Hummer may have been one of the most demonized vehicle brands of the decade, with both poor sales figures and a terrible environmental reputation - but now Utah’s Raser Technologies is using the iconic Hummer H2 as a base for its new electric technology, which it claims can give the Hummer a fuel-economy of around 100mpg.

According to Raser Technologies, the SUV will make use of their E-REV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) powertrain and will be able to drive up to 40 miles per day on pure electricity alone. Once this barrier has been reached, petrol in a small four-cylinder combustion engine connected to the electric motor will generate electricity, much the same way that the Volt does.

Whether or not the technology will be sold in consumer applications is unclear as many manufacturers are already developing their own electric vehicles, however, Raser Technologies has already inked a contract with Pacific Gas & Electric to supply that company with two E-REV trucks, with a view to purchasing more. Other commercial contracts may follow, especially considering the need for many businesses to run large vehicles in their fleets as well as the need to cut costs and be seen doing environmentally positive things.

Geiger Hummer H3 V8 Kompressor

Hummer's troubled present and uncertain future are no impediment to tuners hell-bent on creating the most insane vehicles possible, and this blown V8 Hummer H3 is a prime example. Today the Germans at Geiger Cars, already known for some outlandish Hummer creations, have unleashed the H3 V8 Kompressor on an unsuspecting world.

Appearance modifications are reminiscent of last year's H3 GT, featuring a full body kit and a rear spare delete to offer a cleaner profile. Inside ample use of carbon fiber trim makes light of the H3's porky poundage while also offering a pleasing aesthetic.

Perhaps the lust for excitement then is what motivated Geiger's decision to drop in a supercharged 5.3L V8 generating 423hp (316kW) and 502lb-ft (680Nm) of torque. The power upgrade is enough to sling the diminutive behemoth to 60mph (96km/h) in 7 seconds from a standing start, and carry it on to a homicidal top speed of 148mph (238km/h). To get the beast back down to safer speeds safely, Geiger does equip the H3 V8 with a set of six-piston 380x35mm disc brakes. A suspension package improves handling at speed, and 22x10in wheels shod in 305/40 Continental Cross Contact tires offer lots of grip.

Though many might decry this modification as a completely counter-productive neutering of what is in reality a decent off-road SUV, it may actually be a more honest interpretation of its actual usage: as a 'look at me' attention-demanding street vehicle for ferrying kids and grabbing groceries in obscene, over-the-top style.

The 'baby Hummer' is just a shade under 4,700lbs (2,131kg) in stock form, its 3.7L five-cylinder delivering yawn-inspiring performance with just 239hp (178kW) and 241lb-ft (327Nm) of torque on tap, though it ekes out a 14/18mpg city/highway rating. Even the stock 5.3L V8 makes just 300hp (224kW) and 320lb-ft (434Nm) of torque despite its displacement, and though it's certainly more up to the task of promptly getting the H3 to speed, it takes a hit in the efficiency department, dropping to 13/16mpg city/highway thanks in part to its 5,069lb (2,299kg) weight.

2008 SEMA : HUMMER Concepts To Debut

First up is the H3T Weekend Warrior concept which features 5.3L V-8 with an additional 70 hp over the production version, thanks to several products from GM Performance Parts.

Hummer is planning to unveil a trio of concept H3’s at SEMA to show how a few weekends of work and a host of HUMMER and GM accessories can turn a standard H3 into an off-road beast.

The new components include new cylinder heads, higher-lift camshaft, and a custom 3.5-inch exhaust system. Riding on 20-inch wheels fitted with BFGoodrich Baja T/A tires, the concept uses aftermarket suspension parts in order to tackle the worst trails a driver can throw at it. Other changes include custom Baja Orange Metallic paint, a host of HUMMER exterior accessories, and a black leather interior with orange accents.

The final H3 is a joint project between HUMMER and Four Wheeler Magazine called Trailhugger. It aims to increase the H3’s off-road capability, while retaining daily-driver comfort. In order to accomplish this, they fitted the vehicle with performance shocks, 16-inch wheels fitted with BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires, a roof rack, a wireless remote-operated perimeter lighting system, and a Warn winch. Under the hood is a 5.3L V-8, outfitted with a MagnaFlow exhaust system.

The H3 X Concept has all the standard equipment from the production H3 X Alpha but adds unique 18-inch wheels, 35-inch-tall tires, black chrome exterior accents, a distinctive Canyon Metallic exterior with body color bumper accents, and clear turn signal lenses. Inside black leather with orange stitching match the custom floor mats, while rear seat passengers are treated to a headrest mounted DVD entertainment system.

Geneva:Hummer H3 V8 Euro

Limited Granite Edition

Hummer has a few plans for Europe in 2008, first and foremost the introduction of a new V8 engine. This 5.3 liter V8 produces 225 kW (305 hp) with 432 Nm of torque and will propel the H3 from stand still to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. Maybe not a super car time but if you consider the size of the car it is kind of impressive. Fuel consumption also manages to drop from 14.6 liter per 100 km to 14.5 liter.

In order to celebrate the coming of the V8 engine, Hummer Europe will paint 100 H3's in a special Granite Black color. The Hummer V8 Granite Edition will be in dealership following the Geneva Motor Show.

Overall the Hummer H3 sees some minor tweaks for the 2008 model year, three new body colors, the alloy wheels have a new lacquer finish and the front bumper, grille and underbody protection have been slightly redesigned।

Press Release

HUMMER EXTENDS RANGE WITH H3 V8

  • New V8: highly efficient and powerful
  • New body colours
  • Limited V8 edition: Granite Edition

For model year 2008, Hummer has made a number of interesting changes to the H3 range. The 3.7 litre five-cylinder petrol version is now supplemented with an impressive V8. In addition, new paint colours are available, the design has been updated slightly and there is a limited edition of the H3 V8 in the showroom: the Granite Edition.

Powerful and efficient

The new 5.3 litre V8 engine produces 224 kW (305 HP) at 5200 rpm and has a maximum torque of 432 Nm at 4000 rpm. Equipped in this way, the HUMMER H3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds. The average consumption falls to 14.5 litres per 100 km (compared with 14.6 l/100 km for the H3 3.7 automatic).

To adapt the larger dimensions and high power output of the V8 engine block for the H3, changes have been made to the design and engineering: from chassis reinforcement to a new gearbox casing and special suspension for targeted support of the extra weight. The 5.7 V8 is coupled to the Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission, which allows the H3 V8 to tow a trailer (braked) of up to 2268 kg.
European première in Geneva

The H3 V8 is available in a very luxuriously equipped trim with leather upholstery, heated front seats with 8-way electric adjustment, sports chrome accents, high quality floor covering and audio installation, including CD player with MP3 function.

The HUMMER H3 V8 will be presented to the European public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show (6 to 16 March). The car will be available from HUMMER dealers immediately afterwards.
Granite Edition

Aiming for an extra touch of distinction, for the launch of the H3 V8 a limited edition has been produced, the Granite Edition. Only one hundred vehicles will be painted in the special Granite Black metallic colour and these ‘limited editions’ will only be available via official HUMMER dealers.
Model year changes

All H3 versions in the new model year benefit from a number of changes. Three new colours have been added to the range, the alloy wheels have a new lacquer finish and the front bumper, grille and underbody protection have a new, sturdier design.
